Hi Alex, will you please take a look at my profile and say what you think:
I took GMAT yesterday and got 680 (47Q 36V), an overall 85th
percentile. I have yet received my AWA score, but I believe it shouldn't be
lower than 5.0. I'm 26, from Moscow, Russia. My uneversity major is
international relations. We don't have GPA in Russia, but if I try to scale
it accordingly, I would get around 3.97.
My work experience is the following: right after I graduated in 2006 I
worked for 3 years at an asset management group of one of the leading
Russian investment companies. I started as an associate and then got
promoted to a senior associate. Then I moved to a small industrial company
to a position of a business development director and have been working here
until now. My MBA program choices are HBS, Chicago, Wharton, Stanford and
Columbia. In particular, I'm interested in entrepreneurship courses. I
attended Chicago Booth workshop which was held in Moscow.
I have the following concern: I see that my GMAT score is lower than the
average scores at the schools mentioned. But unfortunately I don't have time
to retake it, since I'm aiming at applying for the 2nd round class 2013 (the
reason for that is it's believed that 3rd round is almost a ban for
international applicants). The good point about my GMAT score, in my
opinion, is that my Q score is not that bad, taking into account that I come
from a liberal arts background.
The question is: should I consider application to those programs and
concentrate on other things like essays, recommendation letters, etc.
Because if I put more effort in improving my GMAT score now, that would mean
I will only apply for class 2014.
I will appreciate your comments and advice. If you need any other
information, please let me know.
