Hi,
It would be great if you could evaluate my profile and help me decide on the business schools.
Nationality: Indian
GMAT: 700 (Quants 50/ Verbal 35) [ This was my second attempt. First attempt 620 (Quants 47/ Verbal 29). Not s
sure whether this counts.]
Education: BS Economics (From one of the top 10 colleges in India) - 60% [I don't think GPA conversion is fair]
MA Economics (From Delhi School of Economics - one of the top 2 places for economics in India and
very highly reputed in the world) - 51% (this is my weakest link I guess although I
ranked within the top 1/3 of the class. I am a patient of psoriatic arthiritis and had my first attacks during the second and third semesters and things went way beyond my control. So I have high marks in two semesters - first and fourth and low in two. I can prove this since I have my medical records with me.)
Overall I have a strong Quantitative background with high marks in Mathematics and Statistics throughout my
academic career.
Work-Experience: 3 and half years as Business Analyst in Symphony Technologies, now Genpact (It is an US
Marketing Analytics firm. I worked for their Indian office as part of the research group).
Worked as an intern with UNDP on an anlytics project to find effective ways of distributing funds
among the NGOs in India.
Extracurricular: (1) Professional Indian classical dancer with 16+ years of training. Head of cultural club during
college. Organised fests and all.
(2) Amateur journalism during school and college. Wrote columns for reputed newspapers.
(3) Participated throughout life in various social service activies such as organising blood donation
camps, working at orphanages, collecting funds for orphanages and old age homes etc. Was
head of the Social Service Society at DSE.
(4) Organised an International Seminar during college in which over 200 delegates from various
European and Asian colleges participated.
Overall very good extracurricular record - with mix of dance, public speaking, social work,
journalism, sports etc
Was head of various societies during college days which would reflect my leadership qualities.
I want to apply for MS Finance and MBA Finance.
I am looking to settle in New York/Boston area after school.
Washington Olin (MBA inance)
Georgetown (MBA Finance)
Rochester Simon(MBA Finance)
Boston College (MS Finance)
Boston University (MS Finance)
Urbana Champaign ( MS Finance)
Rutgers/Purdue (MBA Finance)
I don't have funds to finance the entire education so I would require scholarship/assistantship to partly fund the course. Please let me know what do think are my chances of getting in one of these colleges with some scholarship.
Also suggest me other colleges if you feel I'll be a good fit for them.
Looking forward to your help.
Thanks & Regards,
Riah.
