Hi,

I wanted to ask if anyone could help me in evaluating my profile. I am very confused at the moment and need help to ascertain whether i am even eligible for an MBA or should i just drop the idea.

I'm a 25 year-old Indian candidate with 3.5 years of work experience in advertising (with JWT, Delhi). I have done my graduation from Delhi University with a 4.7  out of 10 GPA, with a general bachelor's degree (including economics & political science). I passed out from class 12 with 85% marks (including a 98% in Economics). My extra curriculars would be - School prefect, basketball district team, cheshire holmes as my supw, IAYP silver holder.

I know my profile is pretty ordinary but i still need to know if i stand a chance in a decent B-school (preferably in the US or UK) or not. I have given my first gmat in which i got a 540 but i'm preparing for a retake where i am confident i will get a good jump. My plan is to study either a sports marketing MBA or a general marketing MBA. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Deepak,

The field that you are intending goes well with your profile in terms of a coherent story but as far as we know top marketing jobs come to only top schools and a few of them are able to attract companies like nike, puma or sports management firms.

Target atleast a 680 to stand a chance at these schools.

Hope that helps.

Hi deepaksharma1986,

I agree with the above comments that you should try to improve your GMAT score. As an additional note, business schools are going to be looking for excellence in your GMAT score, GPA, and in your work experience. They want candidates who have made an impact. If you have the opportunity to take on additional responsibility at work, I recommend you do so. Look for ways you can stand out among your peers, inside and outside of work.

Hope this was of help!

Cheers,

Conrad and the Stacy Blackman Team
