Hi all,
Took the GMAT last week, and wondering if I should prepare to invest the time and money into applying now, or should I try to retake the GMAT to increase my chances?
Gender, Race: Male, Caucasian (US Citizen)
Age: 25
GMAT: 610 (43 q, 31v, didn't get my AWA score yet) My practice scores (
MGMAT and GMAT Prep) all ranged from 630-710, so my score can probably increase a bit, especially with more study on my weaknesses.
GPA: 3.5+ large public university
Work E]xp: 3 years in Corporate Finance/Accounting (1.5 years pricing & financial analysis for large engineering/defense corporation, 1.5 years - present doing finance/accounting/several other "hats" in small software company).
EC'S: Beta Gamma Sigma undergrad and current, Financial Club in undergrad, some volunteer work, a couple local sports leagues post-college
Specifically, I'm wondering if I have a legitimate shot at Penn State (Smeal) and/or Maryland (Smith) MBA programs. If even these are outside chances, then I will focus on the GMAT once again. Thanks for your responses.
Your GMAT is on the lower side. Giving the GMAT might be an option if you are in no hurry and can afford to wait another year so that you can prepare well and re-take the test. However, if you absolutely need to apply this year, then squeezing in prep for the GMAT along with the time investment to prepare essays might be a little bit of s stretch. That being said, the onus is on yourself to put in the extra effort over the next few months.
