Hi Manish,

Thanks for the reply. Here are a few things about my workex.

I am currently working as a Senior software engineer in Accenture. My job is in application development , support and sevice delivery.

I have direct client facing role in which I interact with the business users of the application. The application is for an Oil and Gas major.

While the app is coded by an external vendor, we do a lot of customization and deliver solutions to the users directly. In this way , my team has a direct impact on the hours saved for the client by automating things and thereby saving money for them.

In addition to the above , I am an expert in Microsoft Business Intelliegec tools and I have developed a reporting application which has more than 75 interactive reports which serve 100+ client companies for managing the incident and changes in their IT management processes.

I have also worked on an infrastructure migration project for the oil and gas major in which I we have helped migrate the entire IT System for a major application from physical servers to a Virtual enviroment.

That sounds nifty Amit - should make for some really good stories. Provided you can link this well with your post-MBA goals, you should have some good wins at hand. Go for it

Thanks :)

I am beginning my application process now.

I agree that my chances are bleak for the top 10 schools. I am going to apply for schools that rank from 15 to 25.

I wonder if you can let me know the names of a few suitable schools ? Just to establish a baseline ?

I hope you checked out the article I mentioned above Amit? It is easy for me to tempt you and be tempted to rattle off a few names - but not ideal for you. Do your research and if you need help, check out our MBA MAP product which is designed exactly for this purpose.

Hi Consultants ,

I took the GMAT yesterday and I was wondering if you could help me evaluate my profile for applying to various US B schools.

Name :Amit
Age : 25
Education : B.Tech in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from University of Pune, India
GPA : 3.9 to 4 ( My Uni does not follow GPA scoring model)

GMAT Score : 750 ( Q 50, V 41 , IR 3 :( )

Work Ex : 46 Months .Currently working with Accenture in Bangalore
Received 2 promotions and a high performer award and a very high performance evaluation rating consistently.

Extra Curriculars : Won 1 Inter-College Quizzing championship during undergraduate years. Was a finalist in quite a few other quiz contests.
Headed an IQ test event in the National level college tech fest
Participated in Harmony youth festivals arranged by Rotract Clubs in Pune
Taught at an Orphanage in my holidays.

I should agree that my Extra Curricular credentials are quite ordinary. However, I would really appreciate any reviews of my profile.

Thanks ,

Amit

Hi Amit,

Congrats on a great GMAT score! Your work experience/progression is solid. I'd be interesting in knowing if you have experience leading a team and working with global teams/ direct client interaction/ business development experience etc. You don't have to convert your % score into GPA, assuming you've about 80%, that's solid. You have all the right numbers, a lot depends upon career goals, quality of work experience so far etc. You can definitely aim for a mix of top 10 and top 10-15, but we may need some more information to narrow down the choices.

Best of luck and feel free to be in touch on Aringo's thread!

Hi Amit,

First of all congrats for such a good GMAT Score. You have a decent profile. Your academics, work experience and extracurricular are really good. To shortlist the list of B-Schools we need to go through your resume first. Based on your profile and GMAT Score, I would suggest you to target B-Schools like Columbia University, Chicago Booth, University of California Haas, Kellogg, Yale, NYU Stern etc.

You may also gauge your chances of getting admission to top business school by trying this amazing tool https://bit.ly/1C9o2Md

You can also get your free profile evaluation done by the top Ivy league B-School grads during the webinar conducted by General Education on 31st May 2015. For registration and more details visit our website https://www.genedmba.com/webinars-seminars/

Hope this helps.

You should definitely try for 1-2 schools in top 10 and focus more on 10-25 range.. No doubt you have stellar acads and great GMAT score.. The way you described your extra curriculars here, I'd recommend you to spend enough time on crafting your stories..
