Hi Consultants ,
I took the GMAT yesterday and I was wondering if you could help me evaluate my profile for applying to various US B schools.
Name :Amit
Age : 25
Education : B.Tech in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from University of Pune, India
GPA : 3.9 to 4 ( My Uni does not follow GPA scoring model)
GMAT Score : 750 ( Q 50, V 41 , IR 3
)
Work Ex : 46 Months .Currently working with Accenture in Bangalore
Received 2 promotions and a high performer award and a very high performance evaluation rating consistently.
Extra Curriculars : Won 1 Inter-College Quizzing championship during undergraduate years. Was a finalist in quite a few other quiz contests.
Headed an IQ test event in the National level college tech fest
Participated in Harmony youth festivals arranged by Rotract Clubs in Pune
Taught at an Orphanage in my holidays.
I should agree that my Extra Curricular credentials are quite ordinary. However, I would really appreciate any reviews of my profile.

Your numbers and Accenture branding will earn you a look from most top schools, but given your applicant pool, you will need more. As noted, your extracurriculars are not so jawdropping/interesting, I would recommend aiming at programs in the top 10 through top 20-25 range. If you want to aim higher than, given your age, I would wait a year and ramp up your profile.

A few points for you to ponder on Amit:

- Congrats on the fantastic GMAT score. I wouldn't really bother about the IR score since most school do not take that into account - but do check each school you are applying to individually. Some adcoms we spoke with say that they have started looking at it. Combined with your GPA, this makes for an emphatic academic career graph. Most schools do not ask for the GPA conversion. Even so, you may find the post here useful.
- You have not mentioned the nature of your work. Promotions are good but the nature of your work (IT/Consulting; Developer/Tester) is almost always far more important in placing you amongst your peer group. This will be your biggest card and if played well, can get you in the striking range for some good schools out there
- For reasons mentioned here, I will refrain from dishing out gut-based school suggestions. The information here is too sketchy to even make a very high level comment. The nature of your experience is pretty important to know. So feel free to make a follow-up post or reach out.
