Hello - would love to hear your feedback on my profile as well as advice on how best to apply.
GMAT - 690 (Q47 / V38 / 6 AWA / 8 IR) -- have taken it several times and have earned up to a V41.
GPA - 3.11 from Wake Forest University / BA in Economics / Minor in Entrepreneurship
WE - 6 years at a small boutique investment bank. Have been promoted twice and oversee six people. Have a tremendous amount of responsibility and run my own projects. I am also responsible for all the training of our new hires and interns. I will have letters of recommendations from both of the founders of the firm.
Volunteer work - Volunteer at a local food kitchen for the homeless and at-risk. Was a youth leader and Sunday school teacher for 7 years (through college and up until I was married and had to move). I Participate and organize a team for a medical nonprofit charity run every year (have raised over $30k). I have also coached a recreational softball team for the last few years.
Post MBA I would like to try middle market private equity or VC.
Misc - I have a twin brother with a similar profile who is also applying to b school (700 GMAT / 3.41 GPA) -- ideally we would go to school together.
I am considering schools such as Duke, UNC, Texas and Michigan. I have been gearing up to apply to Duke for early decision but have heard mixed feedback on whether to apply. My dilemma is whether to forgo the advantage and signaling that Duke is my top choice through early decision vs. pushing back to a later round and hopefully having a higher GMAT score..
Would love to hear what the experts think -- appreciate it.
