Hi all. Thanks in advance for the evaluation. I'm trying to assess my odds of making it into a top five business school (Harvard, Stanford, Wharton tier) in the fall of 2017. Here are my stats.
----
Profession: CPA, Big 4 auditor (primarily real estate, some healthcare) and will have completed my third year by summer of 2017
GMAT: 740
Education: BS in Econ/History (2013) and Master of Accountancy (2014) from Vanderbilt (3.5 GPA)
Why an MBA?: I've spent time honing my accounting background to pair with a strong set of critical thinking skills, and now I want to apply what I've learned in high-impact management situations (be it as a management consultant, a top executive at a major firm, or as the head of a dynamic and impactful startup venture).
White male, age 26 at time of admission, if that matters.
----
My questions are as follows:
- My GMAT places me above the median for all schools, but I've only taken it once. Should I give it another shot and try for a 760+? Am I risking anything with that?
- My extracurriculars are limited post-college. Should I find a way to involve myself with a charity of some kind? I've also spent some time learning Mandarin, but have no fluency. Would that add value to a resume, and what level of proficiency would be needed to move the needle?
Thank you again for your help.
