Hi, I am Priyanka Singhal. I took GMAT twice : GMAT 1 score - 670 (V-29, Q-50, IR-7, AWA-6) and GMAT 2 score - 720 (V-38,Q-50,IR-1,AWA-5.5)

10th : 83%
12th : 86%
B.Tech in Computers from NIT Kurukshetra with cgpa 9.5/10.
I have a work ex of 3 yrs in CDOT (A semi-psu organization) as a Research Engineer.

I am planning to apply in ISB, NUS, Fuqua. I got low IR score in GMAT 2 and I dont know if the score is going to affect my applications.

I want to know if I should take GMAT again or start applying with this score. Also which other business schools should I target for?

Hi Priyanka! Thanks for reaching out. In this case I would include both scores so they can see the IR score can be better from you. Most schools are looking more at the total score and the quant sub section. I would continue to apply to programs for later R1's and R2 to get the best odds for this year. If you have it in you to do that and also retake the GMAT, that could be helpful also.

Hi Priyanka,

IR is less important (no one knows how much) than overall GMAT score and its two components (of which Quant usually holds more importance). As pointed out by Donna, your earlier IR too will give confidence to the adcom. Moreover, you’ve consistent good Quant score in both your attempts, which again will offset the poor IR in second attempt.

I think you’re fine to go ahead with this score.

I would continue applying your overall performance on the GMAT is what is most important here. You performed better in IR on your other GMAT which the school will see so do not worry too much about this and waste further time re-taking. Focus on your apps and get into school!
