Wobbles
Hey all,
New to the forum and looking into MBA programs. I wanted to get an idea of how competitive I will be for a few schools and if I should take the GMAT again.
Schools: University of Wisconsin, Madison(Part-time MBA or Full-Time MBA), Foster (Part Time), UCLA (Part Time)
1. GMAT 640 (Q36 V41; Essay: 5.5; IR6)
2. UG GPA 3.0 (California State University, Fullerton: B.S. Cellular & Developmental Biology (3.41 Major GPA) / B.A. Marketing)
3. Biotech/Pharma WE: 3-4 years (1.5 yrs Marketing Strategist in top 3 hereditary diagnostics and then 2yrs (when applying) in commercial analytics/sales operations in pharma)
4. Hispanic Male: Will be 27 when applying
5. Not many extracurricular in terms of clubs; license private pilot
Reason for low UG GPA - I worked throughout college and was working through both majors at the same time as well as all summers.
Goal for MBA: Transition into higher level management in pharma
Thanks!
What kind of work did you do in hereditary diagnostics? It sounds interesting!
Your stats are good to apply for Wisconsin PT, on the border for Foster PT and not strong enough for Anderson PT. You could also target Wisconsin FT, but you have a better chance at the PT. The quant score is pretty low, so if you want to give it your best shot, I recommend taking the test again. However if you prefer to move on and not count on Anderson, then you could shift gears to the applications.
The good news is your background is interesting and would make for a nice set of essays. Do you have any good stories from being a licensed pilot?
Good luck and reach out if you want to discuss how we can work together on your applications.
