Hi - Looking for feedback on my future profile. Recently graduated college and don't plan to apply to business school for several years.

Top private school (ie. Northwestern, Dartmouth, Brown)
Engineering major, 3.6 GPA
720 GMAT
Will be working for a Tier 2 consulting firm (ie. Strategy&, LEK, Parthenon)
Also a female

I was wondering how competitive I would be at M7, specifically schools like HSW, Kellogg, Booth, Sloan, CBS, etc. I'm also curious about whether it would be better to apply to business school right from consulting or try to switch industries in a few years before applying (to a corporate role, MM PE, or other). Thanks!

notabanker you have a strong profile here and should check off all of the boxes for most ad comm. You are right at or slightly below the avg stats for these schools. Also, b-schools still tend to skew male so being a woman and coming from a male dominated industry (consulting) should help as well. On its face applying directly from consulting will not harm you, if you desire a career transition that aligns with your post-MBA goals that would work but don't try and game the process and make career moves just for b-school positioning. Be authentic here about your career choices, it will come through in your application.
