Hello!
I would like some help on deciding which schools I can apply to. I’m giving brief details about profile, GMAT and what I’m looking for in the MBA program. Thanks in advance for taking the time out for this!
GMAT score:
Total: 750
Verbal: 41
Quant: 50
IR: 7
AWA: 5
Profile:
28 year old Indian Male. I’ve completed my B.Tech. from BITS-Pilani Goa Campus with a 6.3/10 GPA in 2013 and MBA (International Business) from Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi in 2016. Both my undergrad and post-grad are from premier Indian institutes (top 10). I had also visited Finland for an exchange semester from IIFT. I have total work ex of 3.5+ years in business development and business analyst roles for the Digital Business unit at an IT firm. I have won 3 awards so far at work and have been a top 5 national finalist and top 4 international finalist for a couple of case study competitions while in B-school and have held a few Positions of Responsibility both in undergrad and post grad. I'm in the midst of relocating to the UK for an onsite assignment through my organization. I had positive recommendations from my mentor at my current company in addition to one from a former business unit leader at the same firm.
My view is that either I do an MBA from a top 10 university or don't do it at all. I was aiming for the likes of Wharton, Harvard, Stanford, Sloan, INSEAD, LBS and NUS for the Fall 2020 intake. I have a reject from Wharton already and have been invited to interview for HEC Paris (my safe option). My aim is to get into innovation and strategy consulting post MBA with McK, Bain or BCG.
I have the following questions:
Answering your questions:
1. What could be the gaps in my profile for rejection from Wharton? DIFFICULT TO SAY UNLESS WE SEE YOUR APPLICATION. oNE OBSERVATION IS THAT YOUR UG GPA IS VERY LOW. YOU HAVE NOT MENTIONED ANY DETAILS ABOUT YOUR WORK EXPERIENCE, SO WE DEFINITELY LACK INFORMATION HERE.
2. Should I go ahead and apply to the other B-schools in R2 this year? Or should I wait and apply next year after gaining onsite experience? THE ONSITE EXPERIENCE SOUNDS EXCITING. I THINK YOU SHOULD TAKE THAT UP
3. If I am to continue applications for the Fall 2020 semester in R2, which universities should I consider (if none from my current target universities is feasible)? DIFFICULT TO SUGGEST WITHOUT KNOWING MORE ABOUT YOUR PROFILE.
