Educational Background
BS Management Engineering, an honors program in Ateneo de Manila University
Merit Scholarship from the Bank of the Philippine Islands for four years
GMAT: 710 Q48 V40
Undergraduate GPA: 2.96 (Top 30% of Batch)
Work Experience:
[3 years in Technology/E-Commerce] Currently founding head of strategy and business intelligence at a tech-enabled logistics company in the Philippines, tasked with setting up the business intelligence and data science infrastructure of the company, and spearheading various strategic initiatives. Led the team that developed the business case and model for the spin-off of the logistics arm of a leading South East Asian E-Commerce company, obtaining >10M USD funding accordingly. Defined the company's launch plan, leading the cross-functional project team that established the key priorities, initiatives, and standard operating procedures for each of the departments leading to the company’s go-live in 2018
[3 years in Management Consulting] Worked at a boutique US-based management consulting firm, specializing in strategic sourcing and marketing analytics. Also headed recruitment initiatives of the firm in the Philippines.

Long-term Post MBA goal
- Return to the Philippines, and create my own technology start-up focused on e-commerce enabling products and services.

Hi there! Thanks for reaching out! The good news is that you're coming from a unique demographic & it looks like you've had some solid work experience. It will be critical to be able to show the quantifiable accomplishments you've driven at work (e.g. driving increases in revenue or decreases in cost, launching profitable new products or services, etc) as well as the leadership experience you've demonstrated.
Some challenges in your candidacy include your undergrad GPA (and the fact that GMAT, while solid, is not high enough to outweigh it) and the fact that you already have 7 years of work experience. You're a bit old for full-time programs, who generally like to have candidates with 3-5 years of experience upon matriculation. But you're too young for executive MBA programs. If there's any chance you can work for your company remotely a part-time MBA program would be a great fit for you. Your years of experience would be right on target and, since PT programs are easier to get into than their FT counterparts, it would give you access to higher ranked schools.
You'll also want to work on refining your post-MBA goals. Ultimately it all hinges on your LT goal. The purpose of your ST goal is to be the VERY BEST prep for your LT goal & the purpose of the MBA is to prepare you for both. For the LT goal, you don't need a fully fleshed out business plan, but the adcom is going to want to see the basic details of your idea -- and you might have those in mind already! It can be trendy to say you want to start a company (which also makes it tougher to differentiate yourself from other applicants) but it's actually a tough goal. The adcom wants to know what unmet need you plan to fill & what consumer problem you plan to solve, but it can be tough to know what the tech world will look like 10-12 years from now, which makes it tough to then flesh out those details. The adcom also wants applicants who are going to go on to have big impact, and when you start a company you have to prove that you'll be able to compete against larger firms who are likely to go after the same idea you are (if it's a good one) only equipped with more resources than you'll have as a start up. It can often be a better path to aim for a senior role in one of those existing firms, where you can accomplish your vision while leveraging the resources & talent available at a more established firm.
In terms of target firms, if you're unable to improve your GMAT, I'd say you are currently competitive for full-time programs in the 15-25 range. Schools in the mid-teens will be more of a reach & schools ranked around 20 will be more of a match for you. If you decide to target PT schools you'd have a shot at higher ranked schools like Haas & Columbia.
