Siddhardhatanari,
Thank you for sharing. Pursuing an MBA is definitely a great opportunity to change career paths. I recommend putting the work in now to show that your desired career is both authentic and attainable.
To determine the role and industry that you should choose, do your research to understand the skills required for success. Check LinkedIn to see where MBA graduates are going and connect with friends/former classmates/professionals who work in consulting, finance, and operations. The more you understand these experiences, the more you will be able to decide which you might be best suited for.
Pay close attention to required industry experience, particularly if you are considering switching to consulting or finance. This will give you a good idea of what role you might be qualified for immediately post-MBA and will allow you to specifically note which position you hope to secure after school.
Personal MBA Coach works with a lot of energy clients and often see them doing consulting and then leadership within an energy company!
I would need a little more information on your profile to provide more insight as to which US program might be best for you, as it really varies based on demographics. With your 710 GMAT, you will want to look in the T15 to T20 range if you do not plan on retaking.
Happy to discuss your profile in more detail:
