Hi
boreas93,
Thanks for reaching out!
Personal MBA Coach has worked with many applicants with lower undergrad GPAs who get in if they have impressive experience and ace the GMAT. Plus, a master’s degree can be a great way to beef up your profile and analytical skills, showing that you are ready to tackle an MBA program.
Truthfully, however, a 2.3 would likely be one of the lower GPAs coming through the application pool. That is not to say you cannot overcome it, but it also depends on your post-MBA goals and target school list.
I would also contend that there is a significant difference between a 740 and a 760/770 GMAT, the latter of which is a truly elite score and would indicate that you are really ready for the academic rigor of your target programs. That said, while a 740 is a strong score, if you think you can aim higher, I would certainly give it a try.
If you are applying to 5 to 8 schools like many candidates are these days, it may be worth aiming for 1 or 2 schools in the 5-10 range and the rest in the 11-25 range. While a school like Booth or Wharton may not be a possibility here, Kellogg may take a flier on a low GPA. CBS may or may not.
I would happy to chat offline about your situation and application strategy. Feel free to visit
