what is the purpose of networking with students/alums? What should I keep in mind?

The purpose is to get to know the schools as well as you can through your own personal research and then to cite these conversations and these student/alum names in your essays. Ask them questions that will reveal why their school addresses your post-MBA goals and make sure to get their names.

what do you mean by networking with adcom? Attending the informational sessions and leaving a good impression?
Yes, that's what I meant.

Lastly, do you think Kellogg is a target or reach school for me?
I would say that Kellogg is more of a target school than a reach school for you, but keep in mind that they really value extracurricular/volunteer involvement, so your current activities may be considered only "par for the course" or even somewhat under their norm.

Thanks again for the advice Paul :)

Luckily for me, I know of several recent MBA grads/current students from many of my target MBA schools (working/interning at my company).

I know this is kind of silly, but whats your opinion on my chances of getting into 1 of the following schools (my curent 5 choices)?

Reach
-Harvard
-Wharton

Target
-Kellogg
-Chicago
-Haas - I love the bay area, but didn't want to apply to 3 reach schools (Stanford)

High Confidence
None - any suggestions for an MBA program that places well in MC for me to apply to here?

Your odds of getting into one of those five is fair to decent based on what I know. CMU or Emory could be your safety.
