Hi there -

I'm evaluating my chances at NYU (would like to specialize in FI Asset Management and International Management).

1. 680 on the GMAT (640 the first time)
2. Ivy Undergrad (3.2 gpa; business focus)
3. 1.5 yrs Analyst specialty Finance/Real estate debt (investment due diligence, justification, lots of writing, loan modeling)
4. 3.5 yrs management consulting at a boutique firm (wide array of industries and project types; operational strategy)

I'm also looking at Columbia, Wharton, Northwestern, U Chicago, Cornell, and Darden.

If it's any relevance, family members have attended Stern and other NYU Schools both Grad and Undergrad (Father, Uncle, Cousin)

GMAT is on the low side. You know that. It won't be fatal, but it will be a handicap.

Stretch: Wharton, Columbia (since you'd be applying Regular Decision)
Slight stretch: Kellogg, Booth
Sweet spot: Cornell, Darden

For NYU, you should have a reasonable shot given that you have a lot of family there (especially immediate family members which is what matters most to schools: parents and siblings).
