- 49q/44v in GMAT
- 26 year old white male
- 4 years work experience doing project management work at an investment bank (mid-office). Analyst at one BB IB, then associate at another BB IB.(NYC)
- 3.4 from Stern NYU undergrad (tough curve, but don't know if that matters)
- Have marathons, tough mudder, football team, snowboarding, some volunteer but not amazing.
- Assuming good recs
Reason for b-school: I want to go to business school to leverage my project management skills in finance in order to make a career change and break into a top 3 management consulting firm.
Having a hard time figuring out where I am a fit since I worked at an investment bank, but not like a BSD front office super star. Have a nice GMAT, but slightly below average GPA.
Was thinking of Early Actioning Columbia, but their lack of financial aid is scaring me.
Any guidance would be appreciated!

With a decent presentation of your story and future career vision, you should have a shot at any top school. Yes, it's competitve when you're coming from the feeder industries, but you have experience that is valuable to your future classmates and a good undergrad pedigree. I wouldn't worry about financial aid, as the loans you would be eligible to receive would be easily repaid once you get a signing bonus and first job after b-school. You'd be valuable to consulting firms too, so the adcoms will like your employability factor. No reason why a well constructed application wouldn't have good results. J-term at Columbia is a good option too since fewer apply for that, but remember you give up internship by going that route and as a career changer, the internship is going to be pretty valuable in my opinion. Any way you slice it, it's going to take a very well constructed application, so let us know if we can help you pull things together. We have specialists who hail from all the top tier schools.
