Work Ex:
Total about 8.5 years for now. Pre Masters was as a trader in multiple banks in India – 4 years. Post Masters – 4.5 - Risk Management – including consulting.
Current Role: Major bank in NY – Risk management role
Steady career progression in terms of designations and titles.

Hi,
Hi @Kittu, thanks for reaching out. Let me share my thoughts on your profile below...
Thank you for your advice here. Here are my details:

GMAT – 730 Indian, Male, 33 Years This score is starting to break out of the traffic jam... but still a bit crowded in terms of how many of these the top programs will see. If you can bump up a little-- will only help. Being 33 is at the upper end of what you see-- somewhat on the outside of norms- although there would still potentially be a few others. Most this age are starting to look at the exec MBA options.
Education
Undergraduate – Comp Science Engineering – New Delhi, India – Non – IIT – 2007 non IIT is not as good as IIT-- but if you are first class it can still be fine
Graduate – Master of Financial Engineering – Univ of California, Berkeley – Haas School of Business – 2013 This could help that you have already been in US- and at Haas no less-- and in an interesting area of study-- so this could be a big plus

Work Ex:
Total about 8.5 years for now. Pre Masters was as a trader in multiple banks in India – 4 years. Post Masters – 4.5 - Risk Management – including consulting.
Current Role: Major bank in NY – Risk management role
Steady career progression in terms of designations and titles. Focus on your impact- try to quantify in your essays and application how you have impacted results. Adcom will expect more from you given your longer experience.

Extra Curriculars –
- Dance – Performances and Shows
- Business(in NY) – Been associated with businesses that ran for a while- some profitably, some not so much.
Target Schools I see these both as good options for you.
- London
- Insead
Post MBA Plans
- Investment Management
- VC

Q1. I am pretty high on work experience when compared to average. What are the biggest challenges for applying with high work ex? With more experience- adcom will expect more impact and results. So I'd focus on making sure you have specific examples of each.
Q2. Only looking for 1 year or about same duration programs. Are the target schools feasible? Yes I do- I think these could both be good choices
Q3. Is it worth trying for R3/R4 for 2018 session?
While I am not generally a fan of the last round- I think for you it could be worth a shot-
and given your age and experience there is no need to wait any longer. I wish we were having this conversation last October! But I suggest you give it a shot-
worst that can happen is a "no" and then at least you will know more about your chances and how to be ahead of the game for next yr round 1. If you want to work with a consultant to help you present as favorably as possible- we'd be glad to work with you.
