Your age is starting to creep beyond the average for the top schools, but you certainly have enough interesting things in your background that I think you could be competitive at these schools if you put together a very strong application.
If you had a little bit stronger GMAT score (especially the Verbal score, obviously), I would say take a shot in Round 3 this year, since waiting another nine months will mean being that much older (which at least some American schools are becoming less fond of). So, the GMAT score complicates things a little, but if you want to apply in Round 3, you should still have enough time to take it again. Not ideal circumstances, but doable.
Re: whether applying in Round 3 is a uniformly bad idea, it's not. It can definitely be more challenging, but take a look at what UCLA Anderson's admissions office said on the subject just this week:
