Sanap,
If you think you could raise your score into the 740 territory or higher, it might be worth your while. Your greatest challenge is being from perhaps the most common applicant pool: "Indian IT male." So you will need every advantage you can get to stand out from the crowd. Your demographic is the main reason I think you are overshooting with Harvard and Stanford. Kellogg and Wharton will be longshots but perhaps give them a try. Ross should be more doable. Your profile is solid, but not terribly unusual or terribly strong, which holds you back. You may want to refer to Accepted.com's advice for Indian applicants.
--Paul Please Evaluate my Profile:
Male Indian in USA
Experience: 4 years
Industry: IT
GMAT Score: 710 (M 50, V 35)
Grad Degree: Computer Science
UnderGrad Degree: Electronics and Communications
Work Experience: Worked in India for one year, Completed my Masters in the US and started as a Co-op and gained full-time employment(I am also the only H1B sponsored in my company for the last 4 years -- on an avaerage 8 Co-ops come every year but no one could make their co-op into full-time employment). I worked as a Project manager on one project and am working as the Team Lead on two projects. My salary was revived three times and was always higher than the company agreed upon target. I can get good recommendation from my Manager.
Extra-curricular activities: Closely associated with some Theosophical and Spiritual Socities in India, Sponsoring two children - one in India and another from Africa, Volunteered for a NGO during the 2005 tsunami relief efforts where we adopted a village and built basic amenities, Also was involved in self-help services for Students, tutored high school students for a year - while studying in the US, worked with new hires in my company and trained them in basic programming
Now, my questions are:
1. Is my GMAT score good. I have some free time now. Do you suggest I should concentrate on Verbal and retake the exam ? I still havent received my AWA score but I am expecting just around 4-4.5
2. I would like to apply for Harvard, Kellogg, Stanford, Ross, Wharton. Are these in my reach --
