I am currently in a situation where I can switch into a commercial lending group inside the bank as an analyst, or keep my current job. Would it be more impressive for a B-school to see the banking/credit background from analyst to associate or 2-3 years of my current strat-planning job where I report to an SEVP who runs many commercial lending units.
Would I make a compelling case for top 15 schools in the next few years? If so, how long should wait to go? Some have told me that if I get 680-700 I will have a good chance at top 10 within the next 2 years, is this true?
Probably. Obviously you have to progress professionally and assume leadership roles.
Your current strategic perspective is certainly more distinctive in the applicant pool, but you should move into the role where you will assume more responsibility over the next two years.
Best,
