Undergraduate: UC Berkeley '04, Economics/Cognitive Science
Undergraduate GPA: 3.26
Graduate: Johns Hopkins '08 Applied Economics
Graduate GPA: I think it's around 3.7 range
GMAT: 740 (49Q/41V), haven't gotten AWA back yet
Work Experience:
3/2005-9/2008
Government Agency - deal with the collection of data from business establishments and analyze data using SAS
10/2008-Present
Labor Litigation Consulting Firm - Working as a research associate --- use Stata to analyze the data and produce reports that attorneys can understand
Extra Curricular Activities:
2006-2008
Volunteer Tutor
Tutored underprivileged children K-12(mostly elementary school children)
2006-2008
Board of Director of a fitness facility
The government agency I worked at had a gym which was non-profit and member governed and I served as a board of director to oversee the finances as well as other decisions to help run the gym
2009-Present
Vice President of Student Relations with the Alumni Club
Served as a liaison between the club and the current students
Organized a newly admitted students reception
Completed a half-marathon 2007
Completed a marathon 2008
Desired Schools:

Questions:
I have one unit class that I did not pass as an undergrad. It was a self-study computer science class --- is that going to be a deterrent? It was a pass/no pass class.
Will my relatively low undergraduate GPA be a deterrent as well?

To answer your questions:
Overall, my biggest question is how your work experience will look to an admissions officer. It looks like you've been doing a lot of number-crunching analyst-type work, but I wonder if you have had enough opportunities to show off the other traits that admissions officers look for -- leadership, teamwork, and maturity. How you present your work experience in your application will be key.

To answer your questions:
- That one non-pass undergrad class probably won't be a deal breaker. Depending on how it shows up on your transcript, you may not even need to address it at all. If you do need to address it, use the optional essay to BRIEFLY do so, and then move on.
- Your undergrad GPA was okay, but terrific. Hopefully you took enough hard quant classes (e.g., stats, calculus), and did well enough in them, to make this a non-issue. The 3.7 at JHU will help, too. So, you're probably okay there.
Overall, my biggest question is how your work experience will look to an admissions officer.
