Hi,
I am just starting with my B School application process but am confused so as to which schools i should target. A snapshot of my profile is:
Nationality: Indian
Undergrad: IIT
CGPA: 7.48 / 10
GMAT: 780 (AWA 5.5)
TOEFL: TBD
Work Ex: Currently working as EA to MD of second largest garments retail company in India with over 600 stores. Previously worked as business & strategy planning manager at another retail company in India. Later got promoted to core team and worked closely with senior management.
Before that, i started my career in a start up retail company as business analyst/sourcing manager. There also i had the opportunity to work closely with founders who were pass outs from LBS & Harward.
In sum i will have approx 50 months of work exp by fall 2011.
Extracurricular: Decent during undergrad, was General Sec of a students body, chairperson of a club and led teams couple of times in National level events. Not much after graduation.
Community: worked with couple of NGOs, developed technology for one NGO which is currently in final stages of testing and will soon be available for underprivileged, Also active member of NGO for last six years and participating regularly as volunteer in events organized by it.
Recommendations: will be able to get recommendations from my current boss as well as my previous supervisor
Questions/Doubts:
1. I stared my career in start-up and my subsequent career also has been in companies which might not be well known outside India. How does that affect my chances of admission in top US B Schools?
2. I don't know how to convert CGPA in GPA. A flat conversion yields approx 3 gpa which i believe will be below class average. How should i cover this deficiency.
3. Which school should i target?? I want to apply to five schools in round one.
Post MBA, i wish to continue with my current profession or pursue a career in consulting. Request you to please evaluate my profile and help me in identifying my target B Schools.
Any help in this regard would be highly appreciated.
Regards
