The gist: High GMAT low GPA.
My Stats:
GPA: 3.2 from solid university (top 50) in quantitative discipline. (no upward trend, about equal major GPA) - I lacked the motivation to succeed academically during my undergrad years.
GMAT: 760 (48Q, 47V) - no AWA yet, but I assume I did fine - first attempt
Work Experience: 2.5 years analytical work at fortune 500 firms. (Some great leadership and initiative demonstrating experiences to draw on)
Recommendations: Can likely get recommendations from VP level at my current firm, direct managers (current and past), and CEO of small but fast growing company for which I did freelance work on the side.
Personal: 25, white, male, U.S. born
Other: I spent time abroad, and volunteer to help unemployed people with resumes, interviews, and other job search needs.
What are my chances (Or what do I need to do to increase my chances) at:
Harvard
MIT - Sloan
U Penn - Wharton
Columbia
NYU - Stern
Note: I'm considering taking night courses at a state school for a grad degree in industrial engineering to build an alternate transcript to mitigate my undergrad gpa. I may then attempt to transfer into one of the above schools and attempt a dual MBA-MS. This would be expensive, difficult to fit in to work, and push off my application to R2 or R3.
Thanks!
