To answer your questions:
1. Yes, you are competitive. That said, they are always reaches, and they would be reasonable but high reaches for you I believe. The age would not be an issue for HBS, but it may be for Stanford – not a deal breaker, but do make a solid and compelling case for why now is the right time for MBA.
2. Two years of experience would be on the low side for sure. That said, they do accept some people with this amount of experience – the key will be to convey in your application that although the quantity of your experience is small, the quality is high, and prepares you to contribute fully as a classmate.
3. Yes, it would be fine to do that, BUT acknowledge it’s not a 100% certainty and discuss briefly a “Plan B” that would avoid that issue and would also be an appealing path to get you to your long-term
goals. This has the benefit of being honest – important not just ethically but practically, as you’ll do a better application if your true interests are portrayed (and the adcoms have a sensitive radar too!).
