Work Experience: Estate planning and tax attorney at a mid-sized law firm, previous work at an accounting firm as a tax attorney (roughly, 48 months of work experience). Currently, I supervise two paralegals and another attorney. I am the primary drafter on estate plans, and I work with three partners on their clients. I have developed a small book of clients in tax matters. In addition, I run a theatre reviewing site, after working for four years for an international entertainment site and supervising a team of six writers and expanding the brand from 25 reviews per year to over 100 reviews.
GMAT: 720 (Q44, V44)
Undergraduate: SUNY Geneseo (NY Public Honors College); B.A. English, Secondary Education, Theatre; 3.9 GPA, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa. Two-time Teaching Assistant for THEA 100. Co-editor and writer for a professor's extensive publication. Worked throughout college. Directed multiple plays (assistant directed mainstage production with professor). Served as Secretary for multiple student organizations.
Law School: Boston University School of Law; J.D. and Tax LL.M.; 3.38 (J.D.), 3.72 (Tax LL.M.). Research Assistant. Co-President of largest student organization. Treasurer for multiple student organizations. Extensive volunteer and pro bono work during law school. Won award for significant contributions to school of law. Published two legal articles.
Post-Law School Activities: Board Member for community theatre; and actor, reviewer, producer for local theatre (reviewed between 100-150 productions for the past two years). Board Member for other non-profits and bar associations.

Thanks for your post and profile info. Congrats on a solid overall GMAT score; between that and your strong academics in undergrad and law school, you've shown the schools that you can likely handle the academic rigor of the program. You have a nice balance of strong academics; solid work experience; recognition; and involvement outside of work (through theater). Your theater experience could also have influenced you in other ways such as strengthening your communication skills and ability to relate to others, as well as confidence etc. And it's an interesting talking point and activity it sounds as though you are passionate about, between the actual theater skills and your theater review work. With your law background, you do of course want to have a clear and compelling story for your WHY... why you want the MBA, and why NOW is the right point in your career to obtain it. Also aim to highlight any examples of leadership that you can identify. You have a competitive school list for sure, so just know that those top programs are challenging for just about anyone to apply to... especially H/S/Wh. Thank you for your quick reply and thorough reading of my profile. I appreciate the time that you spent analyzing my profile and your perspective on my credentials and experience. For me, a transition to finance is my prime motivation for attending business school. My favorite coursework and experience in the law has been related to tax, corporate finance, and M&A. I spent a year learning accounting because I wanted to better communicate with accountants. Now, I have spent a few years as a lawyer, which I hope will assist me in a more business and finance-related position when communicating with other lawyers in the future. Ideally, I would like to create a synergy of my legal, tax, and (future) finance knowledge. I still need more perspective on what kinds of companies and opportunities would find this hybrid most valuable. I hope to also gain the management experience in business school for future employment opportunities.
I believe that now is the optimum time in my career to obtain an MBA because I have gained sufficient management and business knowledge, through my prior coursework, my experience at a mid-sized law firm where I have a hand in effecting change in my department and throughout the firm, and my theatre review business. I need an MBA in order to transition to a finance-related career now, after I have established other skill sets and before I get too far into a career in the law which would make it harder to leave, based on my existing clients and work.
Given my interest in finance, should I re-take the GMAT to score higher on the quantitative section? I believe that I "left points on the table." I want to prove that I can handle the rigors of business school, and, given my liberal arts undergraduate degrees and my law degrees (historically, lawyers cannot do math), I do not want any concern from the admissions departments at the top schools.
