Hello,
I am going to apply for Fall Intake 2021. I realise that I have enough time to build my profile and compensate as much as I can for the areas which are weak.
My academic background is below average.I scored 80% in 10th; 73% in 12th with 94/100 in English. I am currently in my third year of engineering from the University of Mumbai which is ranked around 100 in my country. I have an average of 7.6/10 GPA with 3 backlogs in the past 2 years of undergrad.
Moving to extracurricular: I have Merit certificates of Trinity College's GESE Grade 6 and 9. I haven't played sports nor have I worked for an NGO. I haven't done any internships either.
I have helped my father in his business which inspired me to begin my own journey as an entrepreneur. In the past year, I have co-founded 2 organizations which deal with digital and content marketing. One of the company is doing well and generating revenue. I plan to incorporate the company by the end of the next month. Although I have big plans for my company I need experience and practical knowledge outside of my company as well so that I can improvise and implement what I've learnt. I don't know how much will this cover up for the lack of good marks.
What I plan to do in the next 12 months?:I am planning to join as a volunteer in an NGO that matches my interest soon. I am not sure if I will be able to do any internships as my company consumes a lot of my time. I will also make sure that my GPA increases in the coming semesters without any backlog. I'll be writing a research paper on a topic related to management and will get it published. I am planning to do a certified course related to business or management or marketing that will help me in understanding how to manage my company better; since my University does not offer an elective subject that extensively covers this area. I have started preparing for GMAT and I am aiming for 750+. I'll be giving the exam after 12 months.
I would like to know your opinion on this. Do you feel what I have planned will significantly improve my application? Could you suggest more ways that will help compensate for my inconsistent academics and lack of extracurricular activities?
I am aiming for top 25 Schools according to the FT ranking for MiM, deferred MBA programs offered by Stanford and MSMS program offered by Kellogg.
I would also like to know your opinion on the Deferred MBA programs offered by Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Chicago Booth, and MIT Sloan School of management.
Assuming that I complete the above-mentioned things and knitting a good story in my essay which highlights what I've learnt from my experiences, what are the chances of getting an interview request from Stanford and HEC, Paris? (Stanford for its deferred MBA program and HEC for MiM)
