Hello Linda,

Really appreciate this help you're providing gmatclubbers!

Would appreicate comments on my profile..

M/28/India/GMAT 700 Q 48 V 37/6 yrs WE Marketing MNC/ Computer Science Engineer with a Post Grad Diploma in Business. Decent extra currics and acads.Looking at a global career in marketing in industry, hence a 1 yr International MBA.

Received dings from INSEAD,LBS and Judge R1.I suspect my lack of any international WE is pulling my profile down. Plan to apply to the following now:
-IMD : R1
-ESADE-R2
-Said Oxford- R2
-HEC Paris- R2
-Johnson AMBA- R2

Would appreciate your feedback and comments on my chances for these schools, especially considering my lack of international WE.

Thanks..

Lack of international experience would really hurt you at INSEAD and to some extent at the other programs. Given that you are an Indian IT guy with average (for these programs) stats, the ding is not a big surprise and doesn't bode well for your R2 target programs.

However, poor presentation of your qualifications in your application could have contributed to the outcome. I strongly urge you to obtain an MBA Application Evaluation. If you made mistakes in your R1 application, you want to know about them now and fix them in your R2 applications.

You may be interested in Internationalizing the MBA.

Best,
Linda

Hi Linda,

Thanks for the feedback..however, just one clarification..My work experience is not in IT. Though I am a computer science engineer, I went on to do my post graduation in management, and then got into sales and marketing.
My current role is a marketing one, with a leading telecommunication MNC. Have had prior experience in both sales and marketing.

Does this information change your evaluation of my profile?

Thanks in advance..

mbafall2k11,

Thanks for pointing it out. While your work is in marketing, your education is strictly IT. I was aware of it when I wrote my response and that awareness is at least partially what makes me suspect that there are weaknesses in the way you present your experience. And again if you are making mistakes in presenting yourself, like failing to distinguish yourself or writing in generalities, you want to know about them before you start work on your R2 applications.

Finally, while your work is in marketing and that is somewhat distinguishing, it is still for a telecommunications (ie technical) concern. And you are still an Indian male competing against that enormous cohort in the applicant pool.

Best,
Linda
