Hey Alex,
I intend to apply to some of the top US programs next fall (Stanford, Wharton, Columbia, Chicago). I’d greatly appreciate it if you provided me with honest feedback regarding my profile and my school selection.
Below’s my profile:
Age: 25 (will be 27 at matriculation)
Gender: Male
Citizenship: Western Europe
Education: B.A. in Business Administration from a top University in Continental Europe (think Bocconi / HEC / St. Gallen / ESADE / Rotterdam)
GPA: 3.67 / 4
GMAT: 720 (Q48, V41); thinking about retaking as I have plenty of time and I’m not happy with the score
Work Experience:- Working for a bit more than 2.5 years in a small corporate finance team of a mid sized bank (name of the bank is not known in US) focusing on small to mid cap M&A transactions and equity capital market transactions for external clients
- Promoted twice within 2 years + great salary development
- Project management experience
- One direct report (analyst)
- Pretty confident that my superiors will write great recommendation letters
International Experience:- Internship at a global bank in Hong Kong
- Exchange Semester at a lower tier US university with scholarship (GPA: 3.85 / 4; Dean’s List)
- Speak four languages (if that’s relevant)
Extracurriculars:- Weak, only thing I can mention is that I was Vice President of Student Parliament, participant in a mentoring program and member of two associations while at university
Post-graduation goals:- I'd like to continue to work in corporate finance, preferably in one of the top advisory boutiques in the US (Perella / Lazard / Evercore, etc.)
Target schools (in order of preference):- Stanford
- Wharton
- Columbia
- Chicago
- I don't intend to apply to any US programs outside of M7 or any European programs
So, given my profile, how do you assess my chances of getting admission to one of the programs mentioned above?
