Hi folks,
Gave gmat on 9th Aug 11 and scored 690(Q-50,V-33)
.I have close to 7 years of exp in Indian IT industry.
B.E in (IT)-74% ( from a non IIT insti)
XII- 81%
X-78%
Skill/Key strengths: Analytical,Hardworker,Strong in math subjects.Would prefer MBA in finance.Believe in specializing in things.Loves to do research oriented stuffs.
Weakness: Poor ECs.I am a good singer.Aming to do soething with classical singing .But not sure if that can add anything to my resume.I really need some tips here on how to improve my EC.have joined toastmasters recently and i know i will continue with Toastmasters.
Unsure on my area of specialization(MBA) till now
.Would ask for some tips here too.
Sure that i am nt a marketing guy
..Considering finance or consulting would request for school names.
Kindly help.

With 7 years of IT experience behind you, a shift to a pure functional finance role will not be easy. Are you willing to take up a senior role in IT instead, which would be closer to your previous work ex? Alternatively, IT consulting can be an option.
ECs might be an issue - cannot really comment unless I see your profile in detail.
690 is decent score at the 7 year work ex level so you should not be upset about it. If you are sure about fin/consulting then your school selection would depend on the geography you are thinking about - is it Asia/Europe/US or global?

Well intially i thot i would move away from IT but i would agree with you that with 7 years exp moving to something purely functional will be difficult.
I think IT consulting is something which will suit me easily.However i would also like to know more about other streams(apart from IT) which i can apply to(considering my IT profile)
As far as ECs are concerned let me know what else you want to know about me.
I am interested in Asia/US and Europe in the order mentioned.I consider Asia(NUS or Nanyang) a safest option.But surely i have to apply to some more schools.Hence US and UK are also there to consider.
Considering NUS or Nanyang could you pls provide some details about the prog and my 'to be approaches' to better my chances.
