Hi
I am 30 year old Indian Male working in London since last 4 years in a Finance company at the managerial position. I am aiming for admission in full time MBA for sessions starting Aug 2015 / Jan 2016 with following target schools (in the order of priority):
1. London Business School
2. INSEAD Business School
3. Judge Business School
4. Said Business School
5. IMD
Something more about my profile:
Education:
-Undergrad (Panjab University India - 3 Years): Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) (58.6%)
-Diploma (Panjab University India - 1 Year): Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management and Labour Welfare (61.2%)
-Masters (2 years): MBA (Dual - Finance and Marketing) (CGPA 6.8)
Extra Curricular-
- Did lot of stage shows and theater
- Worked in a national television prime time show as one of the leads
- Also participated in the two modelling contests (for confidence booster)
- Extremely interested in moving machines, especially automobiles. Regularly kept myself updated with all the developments in the industry.
Work Ex:
- Two years in a state finance company in Delhi, India
- Four years in the UK subsidiary of the above company in London, UK.
As you can see, my education spans from Accounts, Economics, HR, Marketing to Finance. I wanted to be an entrepreneur and when I joined my first job in a finance company (an apex infrastructure finance institution of India), I worked with an entrepreneur's attitude. And that really helped. I got tremendous exposure in the fields of accounting, HR, resources, liasoning, legal, credit and general administration. I worked for 2 years in (Delhi) India and 4 years in the UK subsidiary in London. I even held charge of the UK subsidiary for 1 quarter as officer in charge and did business of around USD 50 million and raised around USD 100 million through bonds. I have worked to see the UK subsidiary grow by more than 400% since I joined. All in all, during last six years, i have been working in the capacity of senior officers' positions requiring 10 to 15 years of experience. I think my entrepreneurial attitude has helped me a lot.
Currently I am at a stage where I have explored all areas and had the best learning and contributed to my organization to the best of my abilities. At this stage I feel I need to step on to the global platform and further explore my potential. That's how I decided on going for another MBA.
I took my GMAT on 2 February 2015 after months of inconsistent preparation (1 month focused preparation) and scored 630 (Q 49, V 27). I feel I could have done better as I got a very bad back sprain on the day of the exam and just could not sit properly and focus in the verbal section. I am still on bed rest after 3 days.
All said and done, now I have two options for me. One, to apply to the above colleges with my profile and GMAT score only if it is advisable. Second, to retake the test in mid March 2015 and apply for the last rounds of the above colleges in case I get a better GMAT score.
I request some advice on my situation as the time is too short for either of the options.
Thanks
Taran
