Profile Evaluation : GRE : 305, 5 years work-ex

Hello All,

Which is best as per this profile..?? An MBA (in a B school that accepts the GRE) or MS in Management.?? Kindly suggest suitable universities/B-schools (world-wide) for the below profile :

GRE : 305 (Verbal- 147, Quant- 158)
IELTS : 7
Years of Professional Work Experience (MNC) : 5 years
Excellent record of co-curricular activities
High School CGPA :3.5 (Converted from Percentage scores in Indian schools)
Upper High School CGPA : 3.24 (Converted from Percentage scores in Indian schools)
Under Grad CGPA (B.Tech Deemed University) :2.5 (Converted from Percentage scores in Indian universities)

Hi ,

Much obliged by your quick response and your willingness to support. Upon Graduation, I would like to be a part of an MNC, serving any management role (in Engineering/ Business) and work towards achieving professional excellence. Please don't mistake me if I say I don't have any plans for an entrepreneurship or a PhD in the field of my Post Graduation because the prior objective that I have mentioned is my primary aim. I hope my total years of work-ex would definitely prove to be a boon to me, but my GRE and UG scores makes me panicky. I am really confounded by the ambiguity in the information provided over the internet and hence I expect an expert advice in the program that i should opt for and the best universities that I can aim with my profile. I have a total of 5 years of Technical experience in the field of Telecom, but for my Masters I'm hoping to find a program that's more of management side so that I can use my technical expertise and my fostered management skills later in the coming years.

Hi there,

Thanks for the effort on providing more details. However, your goals are still very generic. There are thousands of multinational corporations in the world and saying that you want to be a manager in one of them tells the AdComm nothing. My first piece of advice is to take a step back and reflect on what it is you see yourself doing (being successful is great, but what exactly will you be doing to make yourself successful?). Think about your short (2-3 years) and your long term (7-10 years) goals and why you think an MBA is going to help you get there vs. a different masters degree.

In terms of your academics, I think you were a bit harsh on your UG GPA conversion, but even so, your GRE is quite low. I would recommend you retake or give the GMAT a shot. You should spend some time working on that piece of the puzzle until you're around the 630-650 range.

Thanks a lot for your response. I'm now re-considering the option to go for an MS in Management Information System. May I please know whether my present choice is apt as per my profile..??
If yes, would it be possible for you to suggest some good universities that I can opt for, with my present profile..?? I would be much obliged if you could help me with the same.

Thanks for your response. After I graduate with an MS in MIS, I would like to see myself in the role of an Analyst (Business/System/Information Security) or a Product Manager (Hope my 5 years of experience in Technical filed would help). Kindly provide suggestions for the best options possible, accordingly.

Hi there,

An MIS makes sense for an analyst role but not for a product manager. Product managers typically come off of a marketing specialty from an MBA.
