Your profile has numerous strengths, but it’s also idiosyncratic given the career background in one entrepreneurial venture, so it requires thoughtful strategy and excellent execution to maximize your chances at top MBA programs.
I do think you would be qualified as a reapplicant to HBS and LBS, BUT:
- You must really make a
really strong case for
the goals, including why, how, your vision, etc.
- You must optimize the experience of starting and operating your company, making it as vivid and rich as possible
- For recommenders, it’s a challenge for a business owner, and adcoms recognize that, so using a partner or a client would often be okay – but not an employee, so you must select another recommender or two
- For the programs you're reapplying to, you must show growth since the previous application
With the above, I believe those two programs would be reasonable reaches (with HBS obviously a high one). That said, because of the idiosyncratic nature of your profile, you definitely should apply to a few more programs if possible, to
maximize the chances for your background to “click” with a particular adcom.
Finally, since you apparently have a thriving venture, the adcom might wonder what will happen to it when you’re in school – do you plan to sell it, hold on but remove yourself from day to day oversight, something else?
