Hi there,
Welcome to our little subthread and thanks for posting!
TL;DR - YES! Apply to the top 5! Diversify a bit into the top 15, but yes, definitely apply!
Ok, let's get into this:
AcademicsYou're doing pretty well in this arena. Great GPA, pretty decent university (not an IIT, but hey, it is what it is), and a solid GMAT. Your GMAT score isn't super high and, given your peer set, right at the median. You're a little below the average for some top programs, a few points above for others. But in your case, this is your ticket to the party, not a determinant of how you'll actually do. What do I mean by that? No school will keep you out because you have a 720 and not a 730. Not with your profile. So I would consider your profile here done.
Professional ExperiencesThis is downright impressive. Scope, impact, real numbers, growth, size, momentum, international exposure. This is going to be a rich area for most of your key themes and strengths. But it'll also serve well to highlight your development needs. Also, it provides you with direct talent management which is something a lot of entrepreneurs don't necessarily have. It's a byproduct of aggressive growth and so that works in your favor.
InvolvementThis is the part of your profile I feel raises a few flags. You have nothing here since you graduated. HOWEVER - two things. For one, you can explain a lot of this with how busy you must be - entrepreneurs get a little slack here. Also, there are probably experiences we can include here in terms of team and community development you probably don't really think about. But even with those two things, this is definitely a weaker part of your profile.
Goals, Story, & SchoolsFrom a goals perspective, I'll take this at face value. If you want to switch into product consulting, that's totally up to you. But I am very curious as to what you stated the first time around. Because the way you wrote the sentence it made it seem you blamed in part not stating the career change as something that held you back. I'm not entirely sure that was it. However, I cannot stress enough how much, for your profile in particular, story will play a role. What you tell schools about where you've been, what you want, and where you're headed will make or break your application. They can't compare you easily to other applicants so they have to take your application at face value. So it has to be solid and air tight and memorable.
From a school perspective, there are a variety of schools in the top 5 and top 15 that could help you get where you're headed. But don't just shotgun the top 5 for the sake of it. Finding schools that make sense for you will help your story resonate that much more!
OverallYour professional experiences are what make your profile. Your track record is pretty great! Academically, you're fine - you meet the criteria. Your involvement is light and, at this point in the game, a little difficult to fix without make the effort transparent. But it's all about STORY. To get into an amazing program, you're going to need to sell them on YOU.
If you'd like to talk about any of this in more detail, I'd love to chat with you. I handle all of our consultations personally so we can take this conversation offline if you'd like.
