Could you please help me evaluate my profile and advise on target schools:
Background:
Indian Male
27 years old
GMAT :
730 (Q50, V38, IR8,)
Education :
Btech in Civil Engineering from Government Engineering College,Thrissur (68%)
Work Experience:
5 years : 2 years in Shapoorji pallonji & Company Ltd (Private Sector)as site/planning engineer in heavy industries sector
3 Years in Steel Authority of India Ltd (Public Sector) as Jr manager projects/water management)
Presently working with Steel authority of India Ltd, as Junior manager Projects.
Few details of my work:
1. Planning /billing engineer for 150 mil USD project while with SPCL
2. Member of ALDEP bATCH ( ACCELERATED LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM) at SPCL.
3. Project coordinator for water works projects at SAIL.
Extra Curricular Activities:
1.Sports: Captain College and School football team, member of cricket and basket ball team.
2. Convener : Nirmaan EXPO . academic cum cultural fest of GEC-TCR.
3. SPONSOR SHIP CONVENER - NIRMAAN EXPO- gathered 700,000 INR worth sponsor ship for college fest.
Applying for 2015 fall intake
Post MBA Goal: Career shift to consulting sector/operations
Target Schools: I would like to know which schools would fit my profile.

Thanks for posting! I'm happy to give you some thoughts on your profile but one thing you're going to notice are a lot of questions. At the moment, I don't quite have enough information but you'll see where I'm lacking info!
Academics
You have a strong GMAT but your undergrad is pretty average. Average school and decent GPA. But it's not exactly the record what a lot of the top programs looks for. Your GMAT will help but it's part of it.
Professionally
It seems you have strong project based experience with some serious numbers behind them. However, what I'm really lacking an understanding of is what you do. Do you lead teams? if so, how large? Do you deliver projects ahead of schedule? Under budget? Do you excel compared to your peers? I need more info here!
Involvement
It doesn't seem you're involved in anything since you graduated (based on your post, at least). Are you? And it doesn't just have to be volunteering. Are you involved in your company? Outside of work? Thought leadership? Hobbies? Anything to help set you apart here?
Goals & Schools
Guess what? Your goals are pretty standard. Engineering to Consulting. Yawn! So your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to STAND OUT! What makes you different? Your most important question to answer is: What makes you a BETTER international consulting candidate? That's what it comes down to. Why are you better to land your dream consulting job?
School wise, depends on where you want to work. If you're looking at Tier I firms only, then you have to apply ~Top 16 / 20. But I think you should throw in a few 20 - 30 schools as safeties.

Thank you Bhavik for the reply.. Let me try to answer some of your questions.
Target schools:
I am looking to do One year MBA from mainly from universities in Europe if possible that provide MBA in general management.
Academics:
AS you have correctly pointed out there is nothing exceptional in my academics and that is partly due to the fact that I was involved in more with sports and other extra curricular activities during my time there. It is also worth noting that my University topper has an overall percentage of 79.8. I will be in the top 10-15 pct of my class. The main problem was lack of internal marks.. externals are quite decent.
Profession:
As planning/ Billing engineer i was incharge of a team of 3 to ensure all planning & billing activities are done in time for the project. Now I am site engineer or shift incharge here with a team of 45-50 engineers/diploma engineers/operators reporting to me daily. I am also the incharge of quality circle which aims at improving quality standards in production and associated activities. Here i head a different team of 5 engineers. I was part of ALDEP program at SPCL (accleratedleadership development program) in which the company chooses 10-15 ENGINEERS every year and puts them in fast track.
Involvement:
After college for a couple of years I really had no time volunteer work since it was basically 12 hrs daily and sunday was also a working day..I have organised blood donation camps at college and have raised money for help age india in my school days along with giving blood every 6 months. Now a days I do volunteer work at babuji memorial ashram in chennai when ever i am there. I teach tution for under privileged children once a week. I am involved though not in a large scale in the CSR activities of my company In the way that my company provides potable water to near by villages as part of CSR activities and it is my job to ensure that this happens without any interruption.
GOALS:
YES IT IS PRETTY STANDARD I WILL HAVE TO WORK ON THAT.
WITH these new info can you suggest me a mix of colleges where I can apply.and please advice it it is prudent to apply to these colleges.
Dream : INSEAD, LBS i know this is a bit steep but still?
other programs:SDA bocconi, Rotterdam bs, IEBS,HEC, EDHC.. etc
