Came from Poland at Grade 1 No english.
Grade 6 won speech award
First in family to go to university
Paid university by working highshool/uni summers
Struggled at engineering. Persevered.
Final year project published in conference paper.
First job out of school Exxon mobile project (112k/yr)
Took risk and quit to work for a boutique engineering startup to gain technical experience
Considerably more experience. Usually only 20's person at consultant meetings.
Out competing multinational engineering firms with new company.
580 Gmat to 690.

Projects Involved OnKearl Oil Sands – Exxon Mobil/Imperial Oil - Quality Engineer -Kearl Oils Sands Project owned between Imperial Oil (operator) and ExxonMobil Canada. The total $10 billion project will be one of Canada’s largest open-pit mining operations with regulatory approval for up to 345,000 barrels a day of production.
Responsible for ensuring complex construction procedures and designs were followed. Required an understanding of the complex design and procedure of the project goals and dealt with difficult situations and decisions with regards to criticizing works of senior engineers and construction professionals.
Evergreen Line Rapid Transit – SNC Lavalin - Project Geotechnical Engineer. The Evergreen Line is an under-construction 10.9 kilometre long SkyTrain rapid transit line located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It comprises of underground tunnel and above ground transit routes.
Lead design engineer responsible for design, project management, construction coordination and design of all temporary works pertaining to geotechnical engineering. This includes the challenging task of designing a 60 ft excavation for the tunnel boring machine portal entrance and exit through Burnaby Mountain.
Vancouver Urban Resort – Paragon Gaming, Ellis Don Tishman – Project Geotechnical Engineer. Paragon has partnered with Dundee Corporation and 360 Vox to create a new ~$535 million world-class urban resort.
Acted as the sole project geotechnical engineer on the large development project. Lead design and project management of all geotechnical works including design of shoring, jet grouting, piling works, excavation and instrumentation. Designed, monitored and solved all issues raised by the client to complete the project.
