Hey aps1611,
Thanks for reaching out to me. Speaking from personal experience, I do think that you should shoot for a slightly different list of schools. I also think that you may want to aim a little higher. I have had clients (yes, Indian clients from IIT and BITS) get into top 10 US schools with very similar profiles. They worked for Schlumberger, Baker Hughes, etc. and within the last 2 years have gained acceptance to HBS, Booth, Wharton, CBS. With respect to IIT grads (not from the O&G sector), I have a lot of luck at Tuck, Wharton and Kellogg.
The only X factor here is going to be your extracurriculars. Is it a deal breaker? Not really to be honest. However, the key to know where and at what schools its going to hurt you is to look at the essays for that individual school. If they are asking a lot of values or personal stories about leadership, you may come up short.
I'm open to discussing your candidacy on the phone if you think it would be valuable to understanding your fit. Please let me know by reaching out to me at

Respectfully,
Paul Lanzillotti
