Hi ,
I did my B.Tech in mechanical engineering from a pvt Indian university LPU with 7.4 CGPA in 2016 . From 2016 to 2019 I was working with Amazon as a quality specialist in Last Miles Analytics and Quality team.At Amazon worked at different last mile projects which were new for the Indian geography as at that time Amazon was trying a lot of operational stuff at the Indian market. After 2019 I joined my fathers business of IT and Telecommunications Services. Here we have a small team of 10 people and I majorly look into services and marketing. The cliental consists of International Airport and large public sector company and many high end hotels.

What I am looking for??
I am looking to do an MBA from Canada or UK so is my profile good enough as my undergrad is 7.4.
What all Canadian colleges I can target and are top 10-15 Canadian B-schools will even consider me ?

Thanks in Advance

Hi Lakshaygmat , your goals are pretty attainable if you put honest effort into your applications.

I am not so much worried about your GPA (which is fine in my opinion), than I am about the perception of LPU when you decide to target top B Schools in Canada. Top schools have a preference for alums of cream Indian universities especially given how competitive the Indian applicant pool is. Therefore you must show how you went a step ahead of most at your school and proved your mettle. But what I like is that you went on to work in a very interesting domain of Last Mile Analytics and Quality at Amazon. This certainly shows your capability and competitive aptitude. You should dwell on your learnings and takeaways from this role and connect them to your future vision of yourself. How did the role help you prepare for your family business in IT and TS? What transferrable skills did you leverage while leading services and marketing functions at your family business? What impact did you create in the business and what gaps did you identify that you hope to bridge through MBA and opportunities after?

I think you are on track because having experience of working in an operations-tech role and in family business would set you apart from the pool of applicants if you play your cards right.

If you wish to seek strategic insights on how to pitch yourself at top Global schools do reach out.

Regards

Lakshaygmat, here's a good timeline plan for your MBA application.

Of course, the GMAT prep time is highly subjective so plan accordingly and all the best!

Lakshaygmat I would advise you to get done with GMAT as early as possible (keep ample time in case you need to re-take the test to attain your target score), so that you can focus on the rest of your application.

Best wishes

Hi Lakshaygmat,

You should, ideally, have your score by mid-July. Of course, a lot depends on your level of preparation.

Work on the essays and resume can go on simultaneously.

Thanks.
