When I was a senior in HS, my dad suggested not going to college right away. I wish I listened to him. I had no idea what I wanted to do in life - or even where to begin. Therefore, I went from graduating HS as an A student to graduating college as a C- student. It took awhile for me to "find myself".
I hope there's hope for people like me...Here's my stats:
Female, 26 years old, undgrad double major in History and Poli Sci. GPA 2.41.
3 years of work experience as a bookkeeper. I took a few accounting classes here and there, post college, and did pretty well in them (A's and B's).
Now I would like to go to grad school for accounting and become a CPA. Will schools in NYC even look at me? I was hoping to go to Baruch or Pace.
I know I am capable of handling the work, but will they?? How can I stand out?
ANY advice at all would be truly appreciated...

Go for it. In your case, if you can score well on the GMAT (for the schools you're talking about, 600+ and ideally 650+), you should be able to get into those schools like Baruch, Pace, Fordham.
How you stand out comes down to HOW you communicate who you are in the essays, rec letters and interview. It's finding a way to allow your personality, color, humor, etc. come out in the applications -- and trusting that that's enough to engage a reader, and to have that reader see you as an individual. You don't need to have bizarro experiences if you can communicate in a clear, specific, and personable way.
