Profile Evaluation Needed - Please Help

Hi ,
 Please suggest the list of colleges that I would get considering the profile I have. Following is my profile, please look in to it and let me know.

Class 12: 79.5 %
Undergrad: 7.02 /10
GMAT: 470 (42Q, 17V) , IR - 8 and AWA - 5.0
Work Experience: I currently have a work ex of around 4.6 years in the field of Information Technology in the Financial Services Industry.
Profile: I am currently a Consultant in a MNC company. My Roles are developer and leading a team of developers.

I am considering to take a another attempt and also give a IELTS exam also but still I would like to see my options. Also, do let me know if there is any other information needed from my side. Please help me on this and thanks in advance.

Thank you for your post and for sharing your profile. Can you give us a bit of information about your role, management experience, and your extracurricular experience? Also, what are you looking to gain professionally from an MBA, and which geographic region are you targetting?

I do recommend you retake the GMAT again, as your current score gives you limited options.

 I have been in the lead role for about 1.6 years , managing the team and pushing the team to deliver within the specified deadlines. As far as my Extra Curricular is concerned , I have completed A1 exam in French and was also part of the NSS camp during my colleges.

Primarily I am looking out for USA and Canada, but I am open to other places as well. I am mainly looking out for Finance and General MBA. And Yes I will retake my GMAT but I am just seeing what are the colleges I would get for my profile.

Could you tell me what IELTS score I should be having for me to get good colleges , if I plan to go with the same GMAT score.

Hi  jeffreymaarsh ,

Unfortunately, it will be very difficult for you to gain admission to a top college (under top 100 MBA programs) with a 470 GMAT score. You do also need to strengthen your extracurricular exposure, as business schools look for engaged leaders. You should aim for a strong IELTS as well, but you should not think of your IELTS score as a substitute for your GMAT score.

Hi  jeffreymaarsh ,

You need to break the 600 threshold, but if you are a candidate from India, then your score needs to break about ~650 as you belong to an overrepresented body of applicants.

Thanks for writing in.

With your current score, you do not quite stand a chance in any of the competitive (ranked) programs in the US or Canada. Even before you focus on the IELTS, you must look at taking your GMAT score up to at least a 600. Once you cross this barrier, a number of reasonable options will open up.
