Hi Jennifer, if I do NOT retake the GMAT before submitting my applications to NYU, how competitive do you think I'll be with this profile? Other than my shortcomings with not having a "highly ranked" undergrad background, even though my GPA is above the NYU average, and my 660 GMAT, which is only one notch below the 670 NYU part-time average, am I still competitive? Is my profile highly competitive or perceived as average for the NYU part-time? I'd like think my background is diverse to differentiate myself from other finance related applicants. Thanks for the insight!

I do think you are a competitive applicant who stands a chance at NYU with the current GMAT score - it's well within their GMAT range. The reason I usually recommend retaking if possible is that if there are 2 applicants with exactly the same profile and one has a GMAT above the program's average, then the other guy is typically going to be left behind. If you simply do not have time to retake the GMAT right now, I don't think that is reason enough not to apply. I do maintain my conviction that it is worthwhile for you to retake the GMAT before applying for finance roles, though, since the GMAT is used as a weeding tool in that process.
