Just to add to my earlier post, a 640 does not necesssarily mean that you can not get in at UT at all. It only means that the slightly below average GMAT score would need to be supported by your work experience and academic performance. Schools, including UT, have a range of scores. I guy/gal got admit to HBS with a 510 !!! 510-and-admitted-to-hbs-how-important-is-gmat-score-100552.html

My point is, a 640 should not keep you from applying. You can very well get admitted to UT, however, I would recommend trying in R1.
