Hi there!

I would be very grateful if you can evaluate my profile and provide your opinion on what schools I should target.

WE: 3 years as Subcontract Specialist in the Aerospace and Defense industry. I coordinate with material planning, engineering, quality, and finance groups to ensure that materials and services are provided on a timely manner to support production. Negotiate pricing, create and analyze proposals. At the facility I work at were currently working on a project to manufacture, assemble and integrate operations for the Delta and Atlas, which are launch systems for NASA and the Department of Defense.

GMAT: 720

Undergrad: 3.5 GPA Business Administration, Nonrank school

Nationality: Hispanic-American

EC: I do grant writing for an agricultural non-profit. In addition, I use my business background to help provide knowledge for their business model to turn crops into a business. For example, a low income family can grow products and then turn it into salsa to then turn it over to sell for a profit. Also, I participate in other charity events, but mostly as a member: Cancer for relay, heart association, etc.

Post MBA: I want to pursue a MBA in Non-Profit (Social Entrepreneurship/Enterprise) so that I can start up my own Non-Profit or work in a managerial role full time. There are always positions up for hire, but many require some type of master or MBA degree. By going for my MBA this would no longer be an obstacle.

Target Schools: Yale

1. What other schools should I target besides Yale?
2. Any other information that could help make my profile stronger?

Thank you for your assistance in taking the time to read my profile it is highly appreciated!

Yale is certainly a great school for social entrepreneurship and non-profits, but not the only one. Kellogg and Duke come to mind since both have good socially responsible business focus in their programs and should be considered. Going to an unranked UG institution may be detrimental for a top b-school application, but your story is compelling and your scores are good. The fact that you are Hispanic American will be a huge asset in the applicaiton process, since very few under-represented minority applicants are available in the top tier pool, causing top b-schools to fight over who gets to host them for two years. I would definitely work some stories into your application which expose your cultural background and how it helps define who you are and even how it may have affected your career trajectory. If you need help pulling everything together please let us know.
