Undergrad: Top 15 undergrad, 3.3 GPA, BA Econ
GMAT: 770
WE: By the time I apply to B-school I will have 2 years WE at a top tier consulting firm, strategy work exclusively, in a major city (think NY, LA, Chicago)
Extracurriculars: President of college council in college, few other fraternity involvements, some were pretty senior. While working, I am involved in some charity work (Big Brother type).
Grew up overseas in a few other countries other than US, think that will be good fodder for atleast one essay.
I have my heart set on H/S/W because I plan on working in private equity in the future and the brand name is important. My GPA is a little low and I'm wondering if I need to do something post-consulting to gain a little more WE before I apply. Also I have discussed starting a new charity with some colleagues, wonder if that will be helpful. Anyway, appreciate any comments.

Also as a side note, I have a real problem answering the "Why MBA, why now" question because I am pretty clearly doing it to get my ticket punched. In the essay I would write that I am doing it to formally learn business principles (finance/accounting) etc. but I am wondering what do other consultants/ibankers out there do for this question? Its pretty clear in our line of work, once the 2 year stint is done, its expected for us to go to b-school

Based on what you gave me I think you're reaching high at H/S/W primarily because I didn't see anything distinctive in your profile. Also, the only leadership experience you mentioned was in college. In that respect "starting a new charity," provided it gets results, could help. I do think your age may be a bit of a handicap for you because one more year might give you the experiences that would enhance your profile's distinctiveness and leadership.
As for explaining why you need an MBA, if your goal is private equity and you're now a strategy consultant, then you're making a career switch so you need fundamental skill retooling.
