Some of my statistics:
Undergraduate: Bachelors in Engineering (Computer Science) form University of Madras, GPA: 3.3/4.0
Graduate: Master of Science in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University, GPA 3.67/4.0
GMAT: 690
Background:
I have 10 years of experience in software consulting at various levels, and currently, I am a team lead at my present job (in a leading Health Insurance Company). Most of my professional experience has been in the US and Australia. In Australia I lead a tem of 5 developers that created an award winning video surveillance software. I also have been running a IT staffing solutions company for the past couple of years and have placed people in several Fortune 500 companies.
Community activities
I have volunteered for 2 years with Byteback, an NGO in Washington DC, teaching computer skills to people in at-risk categories .
I also have worked as a team leader, coordinating relief efforts during the 2004 Asian tsunami in India (for a time period of about seven months on a full time basis). is effort involved organizing several logistical expeditions under severe time pressure, organizing health camps for the victims with a team of doctors from around the globe and constructing temporary shelters for the victims. Currently I am coordinating education projects in India through an NGO and have organized several fund raising events for this purpose.
My target schools are Tuck, Darden, Cornell (I or II year program) and Georgetown.
I understand that I fall under the ultra-competitive Male IT-Indian pool with less than a stellar GPA and GMAT and above the curve median age (I am 32). Do you think that I can offset my weaknesses by my Graduate degree from an American school? Further, will my volunteeirng efforts make me stand out as a competitive applicant?
I would appreciate your comments on my profile and my chances of getting into one of my target schools.
