Male, Indian, 27 years
Bachelor of Engineering (72% - Don't know the CGPA)
Project Manager at a large, well known and respected Indian IT company
PMP certified (from Project Management Institute, USA)
Into leadership role.
7+ years of experience (would be 9 years at the time of entry and 8 years at the time of application)
Plan to take GMAT in 3-4 months.
Stayed in UK for one and half years. Had been to Canada for a month.
4 awards during professional career (star performer and special recognition).
Interests - consulting and general management.
Founded and ran computer society during college.
Planning to join community service and start interface with my college to help students.
Planning to learn an European language (not sure if this would help. May be for an European school).

It will be kind if you can tell me chances at big schools in both US and Europe. Also what GMAT score I should be targeting to get into big schools given my profile?

Technator,

If you get a 700 minimum but ideally 730 or higher on the GMAT and put together some serious community leadership you may have a decent chance at the following strong consulting B-schools: Michigan (long-shot-ish), CMU, Emory, Georgetown, Geo. Washington U., Western Ontario.

Hope this helps,

Thanks Paul. Please help me with 3 questions:

1. Does knowing an European language help for an European school?
2. What are my chances for ultra-elite schools both in US and Europe like HBS, INSEAD etc?
3. What are chances at top General Management schools?

technator,

1. Does knowing an European language help for an European school?
Not very much, unless the school conducts its classes in that language.
2. What are my chances for ultra-elite schools both in US and Europe like HBS, INSEAD etc?
I would say not very good, definite longshots.
3. What are chances at top General Management schools?
Too broad a question for me to answer. The schools I mentioned are about the level where I think you'd be competitive -- based on what I know of your profile.

Good luck,
