I am planning to join a B school Fall 2011. I request you to kindly go over my brief profile and give feedback on the same.
It would be great if you could suggest some schools where I have good chance of getting admitted. My profile:
Age : 24
Nationality : Indian
Experience : 3 years (specifics below)
GMAT : first attempt - 700 (Q48, V38)
Undergrad : Engineering (Electronics & Communication) with 75% from a 2nd tier university in India
Areas of Interest : General MBA, more inclined towards Finance/Accounting.
Experience details:
3 years in a leading Indian IT company (software engineer). Starting to get in to leadership roles these days. Have only been a Team Player for the most part. Job profile is Back-end database Testing. Client is a leading Bank in the US.
Extracurricular :
@ School: was the School Pupil Leader and the school topper.
@ College: was the Lead Guitarist in the College music band.
was twice part of the Technical Symposium organizing committee.
@ Work: Started the 'Soliloquists Club' to send daily mailers and to persuade people to speak up.
Organized multiple outdoor activities (tours, leisure activities) for my team which is about 90-member strong.
1) My main worries is that my profile seems like just another Indian/IT/male category.
2) I'm not looking at the Big schools as there are budget constraints (not that I would otherwise get in

).
My questions are -
i) Does this mean I should look predominantly at Public schools (lesser fees?)?
ii) What are the chances of me getting a Financial Aid/Grant at a decent school?
iii) For starters, can you suggest 2 schools
iv) What difference does a 14-month course make from a 2 year one. Which is better and in what sense?
Thank you very much for your time!
