Top US Engineering School
Major: Petroleum Engineering
GPA: 3.6/4.0 (3.75 in major studies)
Other: Dean's List last 5 semesters
GMAT Stats
Overall:710 (92%)
Q: 48 (82%)
V: 40 (89%)
AWA: 5.0 (56%)
Work Experience
59 months as an engineer (at matriculation), all with a super major oil and gas company (one of the five largest companies in the world). Various technical development roles in deep water offshore oil fields and onshore natural gas fields. Currently working on a shale gas field (shale gas development is at the cutting edge of oil and gas development in the US). Exposure to high level engineering processes early in my career due to capital involved in projects that I have worked on. Much to talk about in essays.
Leadership
Lots of project leadership. Have driven many projects. Single Point of Accountability for many activities in many current role.
Technical mentor to several summer interns. Served as their coach and evaluator.
Graduated from global training program a year early due to technical competence.
Promoted one time since beginning work.
Extra Curricular Activities
College recruiting committee for company (campus team member)
Recommendations
Current manager will probably be willing (haven't asked yet but he's been supportive of this process so far)
Mentor/Colleague has agreed to write
Both rec's will be good
Post MBA Plans
Energy business development, either with a small start up or a specialized business development firm. Focus on acquiring capital for companies entering into shale gas development projects in North America and Europe. Also interested in energy M&A activities.
Target Schools (in order of interest)
1) Kellogg MMM
2) Ross
3) Sloan
4) Booth
5) Fuqua
Plan on applying to Kellogg, Ross, and Sloan in R1, Booth and Fuqua in R2.
Do you think I am a competitive candidate for the schools mentioned above?

Hello,
In short, I do think you're competitive. No need to take the GMAT again, and I think you're targeting a great range of schools for you -- none is easy to get into, but it's a realistic list.
I'd say your biggest challenge will be to make your leadership experiences (on the job and outside of it) stand out enough. I'd feel better if you had some more extracurricular work / community service OUTSIDE of your job. But, I don't think this will be a deal breaker.
Really, it will come down to your essays and your letters of recommendation. For the latter, don't just settle for "good"... They need to scream "This guy is high potential!" That, my friend, is how you get an admissions officer stop and pay closer attention to your application.
