Dear Alex,
I would really appreciate your sincere feedback on my candidacy.
GMAT: 730 (99th V, 63rd Q, 6.0 AWA)
UGPA: 3.38 (from the Crimson, 3 "A" courses through x-reg from Sloan)
Work Exp: 3 yrs at matriculation, 1.5yrs in trading at Lehman Bros before the bankruptcy, the rest in portfolio mngmnt in the Greatest Country in the World (also the #1 potassium exporter - ok, this is a poor "borat" reference i know)
Leadership: co-founded, led, and managed a major campus publication (plenty of stories to tell there - how we went from b&w 28pgs to full-color 64pgs, for example); co-founded and currently preside over an obscure sports federation here in Boratistan; took part in the HBS Leadership Conference as an undergrad; held a variety of other leadership posts in sports/extracurric orgs.
Intangibles: coming from an obscure country seems like an asset these days. the 2 companies i've previously worked for went bankrupt (could make a nice 'case study' spin there, methinks). CFA lev2 candidate.
Lingering questions: what are my chances at Wharton with such a low GMAT Q score and mostly "B"s in quant-related courses as an ugrad? should i apply to CBS early-decision or still try my luck with HWS first?
Targeting (in order of pref): Harvard, Wharton, Stanford, Yale, Tuck. (cant really explain my weird infatuation with Yale so far, but I like the campus, the public management focus of the program, the integrated curriculum, the location near NYC, and the potential ability to tap both the Crimson and the Bulldog networks if accepted)
Considering: CBS, Sloan, Stern.
No cares: Booth, Kellogg, Haas, Ross.
I will appreciate any feedback/comments you can provide regarding the profile.
Thanks,
KZ
