Hi Everyone,

I am planning on applying in the next few months and have some target schools in mind, but I wanted to get some honest feedback on my profile.

I'm an American / white male (30 years old)

Work Experience:
7 years in Risk Advisory / Internal Audit (2 years at B4 firm and then moved to the 5th/6th largest accounting firm and have been there since). Currently a manager, expect to be promoted to Sr. Manager this year.

Education:
Undergrad:

- Major: Accounting
- GPA: 3.6
- University: B10 school
Grad:
- MS in Accounting
- GPA: 3.6
- University: Same B10 school

GMAT:
750 (49Q, 44V)

Extracurriculars
I have been a mentor / big brother for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America for 2 years. Also volunteered at a humane society. I did not participate in any clubs when I was in undergrad / grad school.

LORs
I don’t know how much weight this holds, but I can think of at least 3-4 people that I know would give me very good recommendations, one of which is a former client.

Post MBA goals:
I have not fully decided but I have a rough idea. At this point I know that auditing is not for me and that I want something that will challenge me and keep me interested. I’m hoping to be able to leverage an MBA to pivot my career path to something more meaningful.

I really like the idea of being able to add value through analysis and creativity, so something in the strategy or operations realm of consulting would interest me.

I also recently acquired my first property that I am in the process of renovating to either fix and flip or rent out, and hope to continue that into the future. The reason for me saying that is because I also have a growing passion in real estate, although I have no real experience outside of that.

A question I do have – is it okay to go into the application process without having an exact vision of what you want your post-MBA career to look like?

MBA Targets:
That is where I’m hoping to get feedback on what is realistic for my profile 😊

Ideally I would like to get into an M7, but does my profile give me a realistic chance? If not, what are some realistic schools for me to apply to?

If there's anything I can answer that would help to better assess my profile, let me know!

Would appreciate open and honest feedback.

Hi IAMart,

Your profile demonstrates a strong foundation, with solid experience in risk advisory, an impressive GMAT score of 750, academic excellence, and two years of community service as a Big Brothers Big Sisters mentor. However, your seven years of work experience is on the higher end compared to the average (~5 years) for top-tier MBA programs, which may present a challenge.

Every MBA program expects applicants to have well-defined short and long-term goals. While they understand that candidates may change their goals during the MBA, it is important to demonstrate clarity in your post-MBA direction in the application. You should present a logical career progression that aligns with your past experiences and connect it to the MBA to achieve your goals.

To maximize your chances, consider applying to a balanced mix of reach, target, and safety schools. We can assist you in identifying the best-fit programs through a detailed discussion about your goals and profile. Feel free to schedule a complimentary call with our MBA consultants. You can also reach out via call or WhatsApp at +91 7780769732.

Hi IAMart , you’ve got great GMAT, academics, and clear career progression. That’s a great starting point! But to truly stand out at M7 schools, you’ll need to sharpen your story. Right now, your post-MBA goals feel a bit exploratory, and top programs love candidates who have a clear vision of where they’re headed. If consulting excites you, dive deeper, what kind of problems do you want to solve? If real estate is a growing passion, explore how an MBA can help you break in. Your work experience in risk advisory and audit is respectable but not inherently differentiating, so frame it in a way that highlights leadership, strategic thinking, and tangible impact. Also, while your extracurriculars are meaningful, finding ways to showcase leadership, whether through mentoring, volunteering, or even within your workplace, can give you an edge. With a refined narrative and strong execution, you have a real shot at M7, but I’d also consider top T10-15 schools where you might explore scholarships. Take some time to clarify your path, double down on your strengths, and you’ll be in a great position to land a spot at a top MBA program. You can take a look at BLOG1, BLOG2 and BLOG3

We'd love to learn more about your profile (challenges, impact, achievements, extracurriculars, international experience and more). Feel free to BOOK A PROFILE EVALUATION CALL.
